[팩트인뉴스= Dongsu Kim] Twenty-somethings are getting scammed out of their money as new investment scams appearing on Instagram pulls in unwitting victims with the promise of getting high returns within the 24-hour period.

In a report by the BBC, those who have been victimized by the scam has already lost about £8,900 from the investment scheme. In principle, it should be easy to avoid them: don’t trust get-rich schemes at all, but Action Fraud reveals that there has actually been a lot of the same schemes flooding Instagram for a while now, the fraudsters had attracted some substantial traction.

Action Fraud, which is a UK police-led awareness centre, reports that there had already been about 356 victims of the fraud in the past five months, so that the scammers now have about £3m between them, and more are still expected to be stolen from other unsuspecting victims in the future.

According to the report, the fraudsters’ schemes begin with an advertisement on Instagram where they offer interested victims “instantaneous profit” if they are willing to pay forward at least £600 before the scheme can proceed.

After that, the fraudsters would send “images supposedly for profits building up in their accounts.”

When the victims believe this, the fraudsters will then encourage their victims on investing more so that “the money can be released for a fee”, which is essentially an opportunity for the scammers to once again siphon money from their victims. At this point, when the victims are expecting, the scammers will close the account and disappear with the money.

The scheme sounds tired, and that’s because it exactly is. According to ZeroFox, a security company that specializes in social media security, there are actually two million public Instagram posts promising much the same thing.

뉴스매체의 보도에 따르면, 이 사기 행각에 희생된 사람들은 이미 이 투자 계획으로부터 약 8,900파운드를 잃었다. 애초에 빠르게 부자가 될 계획을 전혀 신뢰하지 말아야 한다. 하지만 이런 사기극은 한동안 인스타그램에서 넘쳐났고, 사기범들은 상당한 관심을 끌었음을 보여준다.

이 사기극은, 지난 5개월 동안 이미 약 356명의 사기 피해자가 발생했다. 현재 이 사기범들은 그들 사이에 약 3백만 파운드의 돈을 가지고 있으며, 앞으로 더 많은 피해자가 나타날 것으로 예상된다.

보고서에 따르면, 사기범들의 시작은 인스타그램 광고에서 시작하여, 관심 있는 피해자에게 최소 600파운드를 먼저 지불할 용의가 있다고 할 것이다.

그 후, 사기범들은“계정에 수익이 축적된 것으로 보이는 이미지”를 보낼 것이다.

피해자가 이것을 믿는다면, 사기범들은 "수수료로 돈을 풀 수 있다"라고 더 많이 투자하도록 부추길 것이다. 이것은 사기범들이 피해자들로부터 다시 한번 돈을 빼돌릴 기회다. 이쯤 되면 피해자가 기대하고 있을 때 사기범들은 계좌를 닫고 돈을 가지고 사라진다.
